Santa Cruz High School Youth Ministry

The Religious Education Classes are to enhance the Faith the adolescents of Santa Cruz already bring with them.  Encouraging them to participate in the Liturgy on a weekly bases is to remind them of God’s love and presence within them and that we should be grateful and aware.  The Diocesan activities of DCYC and GodStock brings together all the youth of the Diocese – so it is a good opportunity for them to meet others, to pray with them, to listen to speakers, to worship as one, to know that God is present in our Diocese through our youth and they are part of that.

Mission Statement:

The purpose and process of youth ministry to adolescents in Santa Cruz Church is likened to Jesus with the disciples of Emmaus in that we, the Church of Santa Cruz, must become today the traveling companion of young people.

The challenge in executing this process for the adolescents of our parish community are 3:

  1. empowering young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today;
  2. drawing young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work of the faith community;
  3. fostering the personal and spiritual growth of each young person

The reality is that these 3 statements cannot happen unless the parish community, the religious education program, and Parents make a concerted effort to work together to bring this about.  Adolescents look to Parents First, RE Catechists second, and total parish community third.
