ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY SANTA CRUZ CONFERENCE IN BUDA, TEXAS

The SVDP Buda conference currently consists of 10 active members and numerous volunteers. The conference serves those in need within our parish boundary and all registered parishioners.  We operate in teams of two or more members to make home visits and manage our food bank distribution.  Our conference specializes in home visits to those in need of spiritual and financial assistance toward utilities, rent and mortgage.  Our SVDP cell phone number is 512-415-4012.  Every-other-Saturday we hold a food bank distribution from 8:00 am until 9:00 am.  All those in need of food are welcome.  The location of the food bank is the east side entrance of the parish activity hall.  Please refer to the parish calendar for scheduled food banks.

The SVDP Buda conference also sponsors two major projects each year.  With the coordination of the hays county food bank we distribute turkey boxes to hays county families that regularly attend our food banks.  Beginning in September, families may register for turkey boxes.  In addition we assist with the parish sponsored Thanksgiving Day meal for those who are in need of a place to gather and give thanks over a fine meal prepared by volunteers.
Our annual angel tree project provides Christmas gifts to children of families in need.  The angel tree is decorated with hundreds of boy and girl angel tree tags representing the children.  Our parishioners select tags over the thanksgiving mass weekend, purchase gifts and return them to SVDP for distribution at our annual angel tree dinner, usually held the third Friday night in December in our parish activity center.  The theme of the evening is the celebration of the birthday of baby Jesus.  Dinner is served to the children and their families.  SVDP members and volunteer parishioners staff the event.

Our conference is funded through a designated second collection once a month.  We also are helped by benefactors who have entrusted us to use their donated funds to serve those in need.  All this is possible because of the outstanding support of our pastor Rev. Kirby Garner, associate pastor Rev. Segundo Angulo and the many Santa Cruz ministries and organizations which lend their support to our mission.  We also thank God for the generosity of the Santa Cruz parishioners who support us financially and spiritually.
