MISSION OF THE MINISTRY
Santa Cruz Lectors assist the priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass through the delivery of the announcements, first and second readings, as well as the Prayers of the Faithful.  Lectors help make the Lord active and present to the assembly through their proclamation.  In receiving and celebrating God’s word alive in our midst, we become the Lord’s own presence. We become in Christ that transforming word to the world, the means by which it is transformed into what God intended from all time.

As Matthew writes in his Gospel, an individual who comes to the wedding feast without a wedding garment may be cast in the darkness. Santa Cruz Altar Servers should prepare themselves to serve Our Lord at the Eucharistic Feast in a fashion appropriate to the solemnity of the liturgy.
