MISSION OF THE MINISTRY

Santa Cruz Altar Servers assist the priest in the celebration of the liturgy during Mass. This is done through specific actions, as well as by setting an example to the congregation by active participation in the liturgy (hymns, responses, etc.) and by looking alert and sitting or standing at the appropriate times.

QUALIFICATIONS & COMMITMENTS

Candidates for Santa Cruz Altar Servers must ...

• have received their First Holy Communion…
• have completed the third grade…
• be faithfully attending religious education classes…
• be part of a family that is registered with the parish…

As an Altar Server, you are committed to…

• arrive at least 20 minutes prior to your scheduled mass…
• find a substitute if you are unable to serve at your scheduled mass…
• ensure at least one parent is in the sacristy to help the servers vest and help maintain the vestments in an orderly fashion…

TRAINING

Individuals interested in becoming Altar Servers should contact the appropriate Coordinator listed above.  Candidates must be approved by the Pastor and participate in an orientation/training program.

APPEARANCE

As Matthew writes in his Gospel, an individual who comes to the wedding feast without a wedding garment may be cast in the darkness. Santa Cruz Altar Servers should prepare themselves to serve Our Lord at the Eucharistic Feast in a fashion appropriate to the solemnity of the liturgy.

LA MISION DEL MINISTERIO

Los Monaguillos de Santa Cruz asistirán al Párroco en la celebración de la liturgia durante la Misa. Esto se lleva a cabo con acciones especificas, y al mismo tiempo, ser un buen ejemplo para la congregación en la participación activa de la liturgia (himnos, respuestas, etc.) y mantenerse alertas ya sea sentándose o parándose a la hora apropiada.   

CUALIFICACIONES & COMPROMISOS

Para servir en el Altar como Monaguillos en Santa Cruz los jóvenes candidatos (hombres y mujeres) deben...

• haber recibido su Primera Comunión …
• haber terminado el tercer grado de primaria …
• estar atendiendo fielmente clases de Educación Religiosa …
• estar registrados en la parroquia (la familia)…

Como Monaguillo, te comprometes a….

• llegar por lo menos 20 minutos antes de que empiece la Misa en la cual vas a servir …
• encontrar a un substituto(a) si por alguna razón no puedes servir en tu Misa asignada.  Es tu responsabilidad…
• tener presente en la sacristía por lo menos uno de los Padres (de familia) para ayudar a los Monaguillos(as) a prepararse y para ayudar a mantener las vestiduras en una manera ordenada …

TALLER DE PREPARACIÓN

Para más información sobre como servir en la Misa en Español, por favor pónganse en contacto con el Coordinador ya mencionado arriba.  Los Candidatos(as) deben ser aprobados(as) por el Párroco y también deben participar en una orientación/taller de preparación.

APARIENCIA

Como Mateo escribe en su Evangelio, una persona que venga al banquete de la boda sin vestirse apropiadamente, puede ser echada a la oscuridad. Los Monaguillos de Santa Cruz deben prepararse para servir a nuestro Señor en el banquete de la Eucaristía de una manera adecuada a la solemnidad de la liturgia.
